12 Observations After Performing 100 Consecutive Liposuctions
These are some of my observations based on my recent experiences after performing 100 consecutive liposuction procedures. A retrospective study based on this experience is planned. I hope you find this interesting.
- Almost every first-time patient is a little nervous before the procedure.
- Liposuction is more useful for body contouring purposes, not for weight loss purposes.
- It is important to listen attentively to every patient’s specific, idiosyncratic comments about her/his body and goals preoperatively. This can make the difference between a pleased and an displeased patient.
- There are some clear advantages to performing the procedure under local anesthesia compared to general anesthesia. I do, however, offer both options.
- Patients who are more active or athletic tend to have fat that is ‘tougher’ to remove.
- Many people have stubborn areas that are resistant to reasonable diet and exercise regimens.
- Performing liposuction well requires a combination of mental focus, endurance, and patience.
- Laser-assisted liposuction has clear advantages over traditional liposuction, especially in areas that have been previously treated.
- Power-assisted liposuction has some advantages over traditional liposuction, especially in a high-volume practice.
- Lymphatic massage is crucial after liposuction, starting the second week after the procedure. I usually recommend three sessions.
- A small percentage of patients will require a touch-up procedure.
- Some of my most satisfied patients are liposuction patients.

Hm, these are some interesting observations about liposuction patients! I didn’t know that cosmetic surgery can have so many options- laser assisted, power-assisted and traditional liposuction are all options. Thanks for sharing this, it is an interesting read!
