Austin Laser Tattoo Removal

Over 45 million Americans have tattoos; one in five want them removed. Westlake Dermatology is proud to offer safe and effective tattoo removal via the Pico laser with revolutionary picosecond technology at our Westlake location.

What is THE PICO tattoo removal laser?

Using picosecond laser energy delivery, Pico laser treatments allow for a safe and effective delivery of ultra-brief energy pulses that last merely a trillionth of a second, leading to more efficient treatments with potentially fewer sessions while minimizing damage to surrounding tissues.

The Pico laser employs an intense photomechanical effect that shatters the target ink into tiny particles that are easily eliminated by the body, while minimizing heat shock to surrounding tissues. It concentrates energy on the target area, breaking down the ink pigment into smaller, more readily absorbable particles.

The Pico Laser system surpasses traditional Nano technology by being 100 times faster, allowing for a significantly quicker breakdown of tattoos compared to traditional lasers. With its ability to shatter even the smallest ink particles, Pico Laser facilitates the body’s natural clearance of tattoo ink, resulting in faster and more efficient tattoo removal.

WHAT SKIN TYPES AND TATTOO COLORS CAN BE TREATED?

The adaptability of the Pico laser enables it to address a diverse array of skin types and tattoo colors effectively. Due to its ultra-brief pulse duration, patients generally experience reduced discomfort during procedures and enjoy quicker recovery times. As a result, this technology facilitates the removal of multi-colored tattoos in significantly fewer sessions than traditional methods allow.

For effective shattering of the most popular pigment/ink colors, Pico offers four wavelengths in order to treat the broadest range of pigment/tattoo colors, on the widest range of skin types. Its four wavelengths – 1064nm, 532nm, 650nm and 585nm – target 9 of the most frequently used tattoo colors ranging from light orange to dark black.  The laser can be used on all skin types, including Fitzpatrick skin types 1-6.

How MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?

The high energy levels of the Pico laser facilitate effective pigment and tattoo removal with fewer sessions compared to other laser systems. Other traditional laser tattoo removal devices may require up to 20 to 30 treatments. Our picosecond treatments can often clear tattoos in about 8 to 12 treatments spaced at least 6-8 weeks apart.
