SUZY BLOOMQUIST, MD

Maria Suzanne “Suzy” Bloomquist, MD completed medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where she received a Presidential Scholarship Award and the Stuart A. Wallace Award for Excellence in Pathology. She then completed a 4-year residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Baylor College of Medicine where she received the Resident Educator Award and served as chief resident during her final two years of residency, followed by a Dermatopathology fellowship.

Dr. Bloomquist was born near Dallas, Texas but spent much of her life in Mexico and Central America, traveling often with her family who were involved in mission work. She returned to the U.S. to complete her education and graduated summa cum laude in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin. She has been involved in numerous presentations at scholarly meetings and has published peer-reviewed papers in the areas of dermatopathology and quality assurance in pathology. Dr. Bloomquist’s interests include melanocytic lesions, cutaneous infectious disease, and medical education.

Dr. Bloomquist is board certified by the American Board of Pathology in both Dermatopathology and Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. She is a member of the American Medical Association, International Society of Dermatopathology, American Society of Dermatopathology, College of American Pathologists, Texas Society of Pathologists, and Texas Medical Association.
