The Non-Surgical Nose Job: All About Liquid Rhinoplasty

Your nose may be one of the most important facial characteristics in determining the overall aesthetic appearance of your face. A nose that is oversized or crooked results in an asymmetrical appearance. Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) is obviously the most effective procedure for enhancing the appearance of the nose.

However, what if you don’t want to undergo a surgical procedure? Depending on your specific goals and current characteristics, liquid rhinoplasty could be an effective option.

Liquid rhinoplasty is a completely non-surgical nose job. Rather than using a scalpel, liquid rhinoplasty can temporarily reshape the nose through the injections of dermal fillers such as Restylane. Liquid rhinoplasty can be performed in minutes, is relatively painless, and requires no downtime.

Pros of Liquid Rhinoplasty

  • Procedure takes less than 30 minutes.
  • The nose can be reshaped and enhanced in multiple different ways.
  • Ability to define dorsal lines.
  • Ability to make depressions in the walls of the nose appear flat.
  • Botox can be used to give the nose a more upward point.
  • Results are temporary and can be altered if desired (Restylane can be dissolved with hyaluronidase).
  • The procedure is relatively painless as topical numbing cream is used prior to injection.
  • Mild to moderate swelling for one day; physical exercise can start the day after the procedure.
  • Less costly than rhinoplasty surgery.
  • Results can last up to one year.

Cons of Liquid Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

  • Results are less dramatic compared to rhinoplasty surgery.
  • Limited ability to address scooped-out bridges or pinched tips.
  • Inability to address large humps on the bridge of the nose.
  • Will not improve nostril retraction.
  • Will not improve nasal obstruction.
  • Cannot make large noses smaller.
  • Nasal obstruction and skin scarring is possible if improperly injected. Make sure to find a provider with liquid rhinoplasty experience and advanced nasal anatomy knowledge.
  • Final result is not permanent.

Hello! I was wondering if you had permanent options for the liquid rhinoplasty. Thank you!

Hi Chelsey, thank you for reading our post and for submitting your question. Unfortunately there are no permanent options in terms of liquid rhinoplasty. The only permanent nose enhancement option would be traditional rhinoplasty (https://www.westlakedermatology.com/cosmetic-procedures/plastic-surgery/rhinoplasty/).

Hi Shelbi, Thanks for reading our blog and submitting your question. Depending on the exact condition of your nose, liquid rhinoplasty may be able to provide some improvement. Unfortunately its very difficult to assess what type of improvement non-surgical rhinoplasty can provide without seeing you in person. Are you in the Austin area? If so please contact us for a free consultation.

  5. Layla Mendiola says:

What is the average cost for the liquid rhinoplasty procedure? Thank you.

    • WD Staff WD Staff says:

Hi Layla, thanks for reading our post and for submitting your question. The price of this procedure really depends upon the amount (quantity) of filler needed to accomplish each patients individual goal.

We would encourage you to come in for a free consultation. An in-person assessment will allow us to determine a cost given your specific goals.

      Thanks,

  6. Sarah says:

Is it possible to decrease the width of the nasal bridge with liquid rhinoplasty — specifically towards the bottom by the tip?

    • WD Staff WD Staff says:

      Hi Sarah,

Thanks for reading our post and submitting your great question. Here is a response from Dr. Constantinides:

Yes, liquid rhinoplasty can make the bridge look narrower, but it depends on how thick the skin is and how stuck down it is to the underlying cartilage. The skin is typically pretty loose on the bridge, but as it approaches the tip it is more adherent, limiting how much the filler can actually raise it up to create narrowing.

      Hope that helps!

  7. Desirea says:

What the age requirement for this procedure?

    • WD Staff WD Staff says:

      Hi Desirea,

Thanks for posting your question! Any patient under the age of 18 will need a signed consent from their parent or guardian. Beyond that, there really is no age requirement!

      Thanks,
      WD Staff
